Switzer Wins National Title

Switzer Wins National Title

July 31 – All-American. National Champion.

St. Teresa junior DaeLin Switzer is adding these accolades to list of accomplishments after claiming the girls 15-16-year-old AAU Jr. Olympic National Championship in Detroit, Michigan

Switzer, who is the raining IHSA 1A State Champion, cleared the 5-07 mark to take the crown.

“It really hasn’t hit me yet that I won, “ said Switzer. “There were a lot of coaches there and I realized it was a good opportunity for me to jump and for schools to look at me.”

Switzer had a goal of jumping 5-09, but she is happy with winning.

“I had a goal of jumping 5-09, but it was hot and I was tired, so winning became my biggest goal.”

When DaeLin first started high jumping in 4th grade, she started off slow and didn’t think she could do it.

“I was barely clearing the low heights, and I thought I’m never going to be good at this and I don’t want to do it,” Switzer said. “But I kept pushing myself and working at it, and now I’ve accomplished this.”

Switzer is a multi-sport athlete at St. Teresa competing in Volleyball, Basketball, and Track.
