Crossing Healthcare Preparing COVID Test Site for Winter

November 16, 2020 – As winter weather approaches, testing facilities across the state have been preparing to move their resources to more fitting locations to deal with the cold.  Tanya Andricks of Crossing Healthcare said today on Byers & Co that 990 North Main Street, the old Wilson’s Garage building, is being changed to a drive-thru testing site.  The center of the building will be converted to serve as a vaccination clinic when the vaccine has been prepared.

“When you’re trying to do this testing and you’re working with your hands and you’re labeling tubes, if it gets too much precipitation or if it gets too cold it makes it really hard to do this and do this well,” said Andricks.

Crossing Healthcare has been working with IDPH to rotate shifts at the Civic Center.  Next week IDPH will be at the Civic Center while Crossing Healthcare finalizes plans to start up their new site.  The new location will open on Tuesday, December 1.  There will continue to be testing at the Civic Center until the new site has been opened.  IDPH will remain at the Civic Center for the first week of the new site being opened, in order to make sure that those unaware of the change will have access to testing.
