September 21, 2020 – As part of National Preparedness Month, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and public safety officials statewide will participate in “If You See Something, Say Something®” Awareness Day on Friday, September 25th.  The purpose of this event is to help inspire, empower, and educate the public on the importance of reporting suspicious activity.

“Our world may have changed, but our commitment to provide education and awareness has not,” said IEMA Director and State Homeland Security Advisor Alicia Tate-Nadeau.  “This is more than just a campaign slogan, but the means by which terror plots have been disrupted and lives have been saved.”

“If You See Something, Say Something®” is a nationwide campaign to raise public awareness of indicators of terrorism, terror-related crime and the importance of reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement.  Illinois will take part in the awareness campaign by posting a series of videos that will be posted this week on Ready Illinois social media pages.
