September 18, 2020 – Today, the IDPH has reported that 24 Illinois counties are considered to be at a warning level for COVID-19.  Counties enter warning levels when two or more risk indicators that measure the amount of the virus increase.  The counties currently at a warning level are – Bond, Bureau, Cass, Clinton, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, DeWitt, Edwards, Effingham, Greene, Jasper, Jo Daviess, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Rock Island, St. Clair, Shelby, Washington, Wayne, Williamson, Wabash, and Union.

Last week, Illinois had 30 counties that were considered to be at warning level.  Counties that are no longer on the list include – DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Hancock, Henderson, Jackson, and Jersey.

Some counties have taken action and implemented mitigation measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19, such as increasing testing availability, stressing the importance of testing to providers, adding more contract tracers, working alongside schools, meeting with local leaders, and educating large venues and businesses on the importance of the measures.
