August 11, 2020 – The Macon County Emergency Management Agency has informed local religious organizations, taxing bodies and nonprofits that there is an opportunity to recoup funds spent during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds spent on things such as personal protective equipment, testing equipment, food distribution, overtime costs, housing assistance, or other emergency measures that are associated with the pandemic response are reimbursable under the FEMA Public Assistance program.

Applications may be submitted online.  Resources are available through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to help assist applicants with the process. “We do not want anyone to be left behind in the recovery process,” said Tammy D. Esposito, Coordinator Macon County EMA. “This funding mechanism is an economic lifeline for communities large and small.”

Public Assistance will be available to local taxing bodies in all Illinois counties.  Local jurisdictions can be reimbursed up to 75% of their eligible costs for emergency protective measures tied to the pandemic.  The Public Assistance program will not reimburse for lost wages or revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
