The Community Investment Corporation of Decatur has partnered with the Illinois Housing Development Authority to connect residents to rental assistance applications starting today, August 10, 2020.  CICD is using current staff and also contract workers to help individuals as well as families in need of COVID-19 related rental assistance in the counties of Macon, DeWitt, Piatt, Moultrie, and Shelby.

$150 million dollars have been made available by the governor in the form of a $5,000 one-time rental assistance payment.  A randomized selection process will identify 30,000 residents after the application portal has closed. CICD staff will assist people with completing the process by phone or in-person.

“CICD is honored to partner with IHDA and be the lead agency in our community and area counties to assist those struggling to pay rent due to the impact of COVID-19 through this program”, says James Seaberg, CICD President. “Keeping individuals and families in their homes must be a priority and we are committed to helping those in need.”

The portal opened today and is open until August 21, 2020.  To access the application, go to www.era.ihda.org.  If you need help with the application process, call 1-866-316-1104.  The CIDC is located at 1059 W. Main Street in Decatur.
