July 23, 2020 – The Illinois State Board of Education has awarded nearly two million dollars in Career and Technical Education grants to regional entities. For Decatur, Richland Community College was granted $78,970. The beneficiary high schools are Eisenhower High School and Macarthur High School.
The Illinois 2020 fiscal year budget saw the first increase in five years for CTE state funding. The 2021 fiscal year budget will also include funding to help ensure the program’s stability.
Students involved in CTE Education Career Pathways will get a head start on teacher preparation through opportunities such as hands-on learning, dual credit, credentials, and mentorship.
