Macon County Clerk Encourages Early Voting Ahead of Primary

March 13, 2020 – To help stem the spread of COVID-19, the Macon County Clerks office is encouraging people to vote early.

Macon County Clerk Josh Tanner says Tuesday’s primary election will go on as scheduled with no changes to polling locations or hours at this time.  Macon County does not have any polling locations at long term care facilities or nursing homes, so there was no need to make polling location changes.

Tanner says they have advised election judges and polling locations of the proper handwashing and safety protocols and plan to have hand sanitizer and spray available at all polling locations. In addition, polling booths will be sprayed down as often as possible to help disinfect high traffic areas on Tuesday.

However, Tanner says they would like voters to take advantage of early voting as much as possible. “It really puts less pressure on our polling locations on Tuesday and will lessen the possibility of large crowds.”

Early voting is available at the Macon County Clerks Office (141 South Main Street – Room 119) at the following times:

Friday, March 13 – until 7:00pm

Saturday – March 14 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sunday – March 15 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Monday – March 16 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
