October 25 – The University of Illinois Springfield and Richland Community College are partnering to make it easier for students to continue their education after earning their associate’s degree.
UIS will now have office hours at Richland for advising and counseling purposes for RCC students that are considering a transfer to UIS. UIS will have office space in the Kitty Lindsay Learning Resources Center.
“Providing UIS with a formal location on our campus exemplifies the strong partnership that exists between the two institutions,” RCC Registrar Rob Kerr says. “This collaboration will support our students as they prepare for the next step in their education career and seek to achieve their occupational goals.”
The first sessions will b held on October 31, November 10 and 14, ad December 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. After the initial sessions, UIS plans to be on RCC’s campus on a weekly basis with regular office hours.
“Community College students have such busy lives inside and outside of the classroom,” UIS transfer coordinator Raymond Barnett says. “This presence at Richland allows UIS to be there to answer the questions of students who are curious and those who are needing direct assistance.”
