October 15 – Your kids can enjoy a fun and safe environment to trick or treat this month at Scovill Zoo.
The Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo program starts up tonight (Friday) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. You can dress up for Halloween and collect candy at several stations throughout the Zoo. The Zoo is decorated especially for Halloween and it’s your final chance to enjoy the Zoo this season.
“You get to dress up, come out to the Zoo, collect treats if you want to, see the decorations, and ride the train and carousel,” Zoo Director Ken Frye says. “For the Zoo, it’s a nice way to end our season, getting another 10-15,000 people to come to the Zoo. It helps us out tremendously just get through the winter.”
You can also enjoy animal encounters throughout the night. It’s $4.75 for anyone collecting treats, $3.75 per person if you don’t collect treats, and children under 2 that aren’t collecting treats get in for free. The train will be $2.50 ($2 for Friends of the Zoo members) and carousel rides are $2 ($1.50 for Friends of the Zoo members).
Boo at the Zoo continues from 3 to 8 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16. It runs 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 21 and 28 and the same time on Thursday, October 27. On the weekends, the Zoo will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. October 22 and 23, and Oct. 29 and 30.
