September 15 – Two dedicated teachers will be honored for their impact on education this weekend at Eisenhower High School.
On Saturday, September 17th, Eisenhower will host a naming ceremony where they will dedicate their performing arts center the Kistler-Scott Center for Performing Arts. Shirley Kistler and Milton Scott both spent over 30 years impacting students’ lives in the Decatur Public Schools District. This Saturday, starting at 6 p.m., they will be honored for that impact.
Shirley Kistler graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1965, got a degree from Illinois State University, and returned to EHS to teach English, speech, and acting. She retired from DPS in 2001.
Milton Scott earned a degree from Millikin University and then a Masters from ISU. He was the choral director and music department chair at EHS until he retired in 2000.
DPS leadership will name the center this Saturday at Eisenhower High School.
