DECATUR– Efforts over the summer by local McDonald’s locations netted $3000 to benefit the 14th Annual WSOY Community Food Drive.
Throughout the summer, the Decatur and Forsyth McDonald’s locations held a promotion called “Freeze Out Hunger”, in which a portion of every ice cream cone sold was given to the annual food drive to be held on October 9th.
In addition to these efforts, McDonald’s owner Gary Birschbach hosted the 2nd annual McFood Drive night at his location in Forsyth. Personalities and employees of Neuhoff Media greeted customers and worked behind the counter and a portion of the McFood Drive event sales were also designated to the food drive.
All told, both efforts raised $2990.32. Birschbach decided to make the amount an even $3000, adding that he considers his businesses efforts to help the annual food drive “a labor of love.”
