Council to discuss vehicle purchase during Gleason’s 1st meeting

DECATUR– When the Decatur City Council meets tonight for their regularly scheduled meeting, there will be a new face in the city manager’s chair.

The meeting tonight will be the first for City Manager Timothy Gleason who was hired last month.

The council tonight will consider approving the purchase of five new SUV’s for the Decatur Police Department. The purchase would be the second installment of SUV’s; the City Council earlier this year approved the purchase of 10 similar vehicles for the department.

If approved, the vehicles would be purchased from Jackson Ford here in Decatur for the purchase price of $134,000.

The Decatur city Council meets tonight at 5:30 in the council chambers on the 3rd floor of the Decatur Civic Center.
