  • Downtown Decatur Christmas Walk- 5PM – 8PM – Downtown Decatur – Join the downtown merchants and restaurants for the much anticipated, annual Christmas Walk! Twinkling Christmas lights fill the sky, and carolers fill the sidewalks. #ShopLocal and visit your favorite shops and eateries for exclusive night-of deals, refreshments and holiday cheer.
  • Neuhoff Media Decatur Holiday Open House – 5PM – 7PM – Join Neuhoff Media for hors devours, live music and tours of the studios during our annual holiday open house! 5pm-8pm 250 N Water St. Suite 100 in Downtown Decatur.
  • Ornament Bar Pop Up – 5 PM – 8 PM  – The District Shoppe – This District is proud to bring you an Ornament Bar Pop Up, where you can create and take your design. Katie Wright will be there to help you personalize your ornaments with hand lettering as well as other items to help customize your ornament! $5 per ornament. CLICK HERE for details.
  • Songs, Craft, and Santa – 4:30 PM – 6 PM  – Decatur Public Library – Bring the family to the Children’s Section and enjoy the Millikin Children’s Choir at 4:30 pm, followed by a specially written library carol, a craft, and a visit from SANTA! CLICK HERE for details.
  • Christmas Walk at the Holiday Gift Shop – 5 PM – 8 PM  – Decatur Area Arts Council  – Join the DAAC for a festive evening! Shop for unique gifts, all handmade art and fine crafts by more than 50 area artisans. Enjoy live holiday music, yummy baked treats and punch. CLICK HERE for details.

  • One Light to Remember – 5PM – 7pm – Decatur Memorial Hospital  – Through DMH’s One Light to Remember program, you can designate a light to shine at the hospital throughout the holiday season in remembrance or in honor of your loved one(s). For each $10 donation, a light will shine at the hospital entrance. Proceeds support hospital missions. For more information, call 217-876-2105.   
  • HSHS St. Marys Hospital Starlighting Ceremony– 6:30PM – Lobby HSHS St Marys Hospital – Celebrate the lighting of the Christmas Star atop HSHS St. Mary’s hospital.  Each light in the star is in memory or in honor of a loved one.  To purchase a light or for more details, CLICK HERE.

  • Public Ice Skating – Decatur Civic Center – CLICK HERE for details. 
  •  Polar Express Movie Night – 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM  – Grace Baptist Church of Decatur, IL – Free family movie night!  Offering popcorn, crafts, cookie decorating, photo opportunity, kids in pj’s and a meal for the entire family to enjoy, all for free.   • 95Q Secret Santa Concert – 7 PM – Decatur Civic Center  – Tickets $20, Portion of ticket sales go to Salvation Army Tree. CLICK HERE for details.  
  • Richland Presents The Nutcracker: A New Stage and Dance Adaptation 7pm- Shilling Auditorium – It’s a holiday tradition – Richland Dance presents the 24th annual production of The Nutcracker. Advance purchase of tickets is requested to ensure seating. Reserved seating tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling (217) 875-7211, ext. 6170.   • Vespers – 2PM and 7:30PM – Kirkland Fine Arts Center – Vespers is one of Millikin’s most popular events, signaling the beginning of the holiday season with a sumptuous evening of carols, choirs, and candlelight. Over 250 musicians join together for this joyous musical feast. Songs from past centuries combined with familiar carols and arrangements create an evening of seasonal warmth for the whole family. CLICK HERE for details. 
  • Lions Club Christmas Parade – 6:10 PM – 6:30 PM – Mt. Zion Recreation/Fletcher Park –  CLICK HERE for details.
  • Christmas Caroling at the Art Farm – 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM – The ArtFarm Decatur – For absolutely no reason except to spread cheer, The ArtFarm will host what we hope will be a MASSIVE group of carolers gathering out front on N. Park Street before the annual Christmas parade, which begins at 5. We will provide sheet music for 8 old-fashioned standards and encourage musicians to come and accompany our voices! CLICK HERE for details. 
  • 2019 Baum Holiday Bazaar – 9 AM – 2 PM  – Baum Elementary School – Start or finish your Christmas Shopping. Over 75 vendors in one spot. Food and cookie walk available for purchase. Free admission. CLICK HERE for details. 
  • The Decatur Christmas Parade Presented by Earthmover Credit Union- 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM – Downtown Decatur – Start your holiday season with the 2019 Decatur Christmas Parade! Join us in Downtown Decatur on Saturday, December 7th for a Decatur holiday staple filled with fun floats, great music, local celebrities, delicious candy, and more. The parade starts at 4:30 pm.   • Christmas Open House and Sweet Treats Bakery – 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM – James Millikin Homestead – Visit the James Millikin Homestead  for the annual Christmas Open House. Stop by any time between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to enjoy home baked cookies, mulled cider and the Homestead’s festive holiday décor.  Keeping with tradition, the Sweet Treats Bakery will be open for business in the South Parlor, too.   • Christmas Tea at Oglesby Mansion – 1PM- 4PM – Stop by the Governor Oglesby Mansion to enjoy a traditional Christmas afternoon tea. Experience this historic Victorian home all decked out for the holidays. $2 Per Person. For more info, call 963-1960.
  • Santa Shuffle – 3:30PM –4PM  – Decatur Indoor Sports Center – Santa returns to the DISC! Kids will run on the indoor track, play games, and jump on the inflatable (ages 4 & up for inflatable)! All participants will receive a medal, cookie, and photo with Santa. Please check in 10 minutes prior to your child’s start time. Be a part of the Decatur Christmas Parade! The Parade will take place Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 4:30 pm in downtown Decatur!  It had traditionally been held the Saturday before Thanksgiving by the Jaycees. This year the parade is being coordinated by Earthmover Credit Union!

The Decatur Area Arts Council is hosting a community art project for this holiday season, “Christmas Card Lane.” This is an outdoor exhibit/competition comprised of larger-than-life ‘cards’ created by local artists and groups based on the theme “Holiday Season Around the World.” The cards are displayed in downtown Decatur (across from ADM Center) from November 29 to December 30, 2019. The community is invited to vote for their favorite card design and prize money will be awarded to the top three designs! Click HERE to vote!
