September 13th, 2019- IMA President and CEO Mark Denzler and IMA Board Chairman Rick Delawder joined Byers & Co to talk about the importance of manufacturing in the state.
The IMA has spent the summer touring the state as part of the “Manufacturing Matters Illinois” tour, which is aimed at highlighting a new study that details the integral role manufacturing plays in the Illinois economy. Statewide, manufacturers directly employ 592,200 women and men.
Manufacturing has a sizable footprint in central Illinois as Macon, Champaign, McLean and Sangamon counties are among the top 20 counties for manufacturing employment in Illinois.
In Macon County, 31,100 people are employed by manufacturing (11,300 directly), generating $15.8 billion in economic output. The average manufacturing salary in Macon County is more than $101,000.
