Guest Services for the Decatur Celebration

August 2, 2018 – At the Decatur Celebration, it never fails, just when you’re ready to grab that pic of your favorite performer, or you’re trying to coordinate meeting up with friends or family, your phone dies.

For the third year, Decatur Computers Incorporated has you covered at the Celebration if you’ve used up your battery. They’ve supplied a free charging station in Central Park, near the corner of Franklin Street and North Park Street.

The charging station can charge most Apple or Android devices. So if your phone’s battery indicator is in the red, head to the corner of Franklin and North Park Street in Central Park, just across from the Post Office, and get powered up.

In addition, St Paul’s Lutheran Church is hosting the Family Oasis.  The Oasis is located near the Christian Stage (on the west side of Busey Bank and Kids Block area). For the third year, SPL is providing this service as convenience for families and all attendees. This tented area includes a nursing mothers station, diaper changing station, and cooled and comfortable seating under a shaded area, available to attendees throughout the Celebration weekend. The nursing mothers station, constructed from a clean and durable shelter, includes a door with slide lock for those desiring private nursing, air conditioning, comfortable seating, shelving, and supplies. The Oasis also includes two shaded diaper changing tables, which are cleaned after each use by the SPL serving team. They also maintain additional diapering supplies.

Richland Community College is once again proving the free ice water Oasis, located on South Park Street near South Franklin.  Look for the RCC trailer and stop by for a quick cold drink.

For those 65 and older, the Celebration is offering a shade tent in Central Park located at the corner of N. Park and Water.  The area has gliders, water and large cooling fans for taking a break from the heat.

A new addition this year are large cooling fans.  Cool off at one of the three cooling fan locations located at North Franklin near the Civic Center, William & State, and South Park & Water.

If you are in need of first aid or need the lost and found, both services are located at the Decatur Civic Center.  First Aid is provided by Decatur Ambulance Service.
