No Decision On Pot Sales In Decatur

July 18, 2019 – As state officials prepare rules for Illinois to begin legal sales of adult-use cannabis starting Jan. 1st, municipalities across the state are taking different approaches when it comes to allowing recreational marijuana sales – some want it, others don’t. Decatur City Council member Pat McDaniel said the council is planning a study session on the issue soon. McDaniel, who is also the city’s liquor commissioner, is chairman of the Decatur Drug Free Coalition said there’s opposition to block legal sales, but they still have a few months to decide. Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe says some businesses are echoing that sentiment:

McDaniel and Moore said that no decision will be made until public input is provided by residents.
