July 12th, 2019 – More than ten thousand home fires are started by a grill across the country, and more than nineteen thousand people visit the emergency room for related injuries. State Fire Marshal Spokesperson J.C Fultz advises keeping your grill away from deck railings, siding and out from under eaves. “Kids and Pets should be kept at least three feet from the grill,” said Fultz. “And if using charcoal, the coals should be fully cooled before disposing of them in a metal container.” Fultz advises that if you smell gas while grilling, you should immediately get away from the grill and call the fire department.
