April 17,2019 – Martin Atkins joined Byers & Co this morning to talk about the upcoming Midwest Music Expo. About the expo:
Central Illinois has given us REO Speedwagon, Alison Krauss, John Doe from the band X, the Godfather of street art – Ron English, the Bears, Caterpillar, the Horseshoe sandwich, and Abe Lincoln. We say the opportunity is here where a hard work, no-nonsense, get-things-done mentality will always triumph.
We are formalizing our geographic position at the center of Illinois by creating a hub for the exchange of ideas, connections, and opportunities. On May 3rd and 4th, 2019 we are hosting a 2-day conference on the campus of Millikin University bringing together people who do it, get it, and aren’t afraid to share it.
Panels of professionals will help artists monetize their passions, successful employers will talk about their unique paths, and driven individuals will connect through topics including: Vinyl, Touring, The Record industry, Live Sound/Performing, Social Media, Public Relations, Mental Health in creative industry, Publishing, Booking, Mixing/Mastering/Production, Song Writing, and Much More.
The adjoining expo will feature over 25 companies who will set up shop, meet, greet, and discuss their business and career paths. This will be the first event of its kind here at Millikin’s College of Fine Arts. We encourage any and all input, advice, suggestions for panels or to reserve a table space at the expo.
