January 13 – Dr. Willie Rockward will help Millikin University celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a public presentation on January 21.
Rockward, president of the National Society of Black Physicists, will appear as part of the university’s Doug and Diane Oberhelman Leadership Impact Series. He will give his speech, titled “Martin Luther King Jr., Albert Einstein, and You,” at 3 p.m. in the Bob and Debi Johnston Banquet Room on the third floor of the University Commons. The event is free and open to the public.
Rockward serves as professor of physics and chair of the Department of Physics & Dual Degree Engineering Program at Morgan State University in Baltimore. He also serves as the research director of the Materials and Optics Research & Engineering Laboratory.
As president of the NSBP, Rockward oversees the largest organization devoted to promoting the professional well-being of African-American physicists and physics students within the international scientific community and society at large.
