Macon County Jail to Close Visitation for Storm

January 11 – The Macon County Sheriff’s Office announced it will close the Macon County Jail’s on-site visitation lobby Saturday with winter weather expected in the area.

A media release from Assistant Jail Superintendent Sgt. Scott Flannery said the county jail offers an off-site visitation program that allows families to visit individuals by video from their own homes.

Those interested in the off-site visitation can go to Flannery said the jail expects visits will resume Sunday.

The Macon County Animal Control and Care Center announced its facility will be closed to the public on Saturday. Animal control wardens still will be on duty from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; service calls may be prioritized for safety reasons based on road conditions.
