October 23 – Toby Tucker, Program Director of WDZQ-FM – Decatur’s Country Home 95Q, has been named general manager of the Nelson Park amphitheater.
The Decatur Park District announced Tucker’s hiring on Tuesday. He will oversee all aspects of the Nelson Park amphitheater, including operations, talent management, sales, and marketing.
In a social media post, Tucker said “I am very excited about the possibilities for the venue and will try to book entertainment that will please people of all ages and interests.
“I will still be helping out with a few things at 95Q for a little while at least and hope to be involved with it on some level moving forward. My 12-plus years here have been full of so many amazing memories. You, as an audience, embraced me from the beginning and I can only say thank you for that.”
Tucker was a National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Award finalist for small market of personality of the year in 2016. He has served on the Macon County Fair Board, securing acts such as Brothers Osborne, Dustin Lynch, Thomas Rhett, and others for various local shows and events
“Toby Tucker has a wealth of experience in the music industry, and we are confident that his skills and knowledge will be an asset to the Park District’s award-winning arts division,” said Park District Executive Director Bill Clevenger. “Next spring, we will unveil the new lakefront arts venue, made possible by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.”
