September 12 – The Hickory Point Bank kickoff fundraiser for the WSOY Community Food Drive resulted in more than $11,000 in donations.
The event held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in Central Park featured a live broadcast and a ping-pong marathon aimed at helping the 17th annual Community Food Drive reach its goal of collecting 1.5 million pounds of food. Hickory Point Bank contributed $2,000 in matched donations during Wednesday’s fundraiser.
The WSOY Community Food Drive will be held Friday, October 5th from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kroger grocery store on Illinois 36 in Decatur. Money and canned goods will be collected for Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army and other food pantries throughout the day and pledges can be called in to First Christian Church that day as well.
