September 10 – State Senator Andy Manar has picked up an endorsement from the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police in his bid for re-election.
“Our police officers put their lives at risk each and every day to protect our communities; having their confidence and support means a lot to me,” Manar said in a media release. “I work closely with law enforcement in the Senate on many issues and look forward to our continued work ahead.”
The Bunker Hill Democrat is opposed by Taylorville businessman Seth McMillan on the Republican side in the 48th Senate District.
“Senator Manar has been a powerful ally for police officers and first responders in the Illinois Senate, and we’re proud to offer our endorsement for his re-election campaign,” said Chris Southwood, President of the Illinois FOP State Lodge. “We hope he can continue to serve us in Springfield, so we can continue to serve our neighbors and communities as effectively as possible.”
The Illinois FOP is the second largest State Lodge in the United States, representing over 33,000 active duty and retired police officers.
