Task Force Makes Arrests in Piatt County Drug Sales Investigation

Dec 8 – The Piatt County Task Force 6 and Piatt County Sheriff’s Office made arrests in late November of persons wanted in connection with an investigation of illegal drug sales in the Piatt County area.

The arrests were a result of lengthy, separate investigations, involving the sales of various illegal controlled substances in the area. The following suspects were arrested on warrants issued by the Piatt County State’s Attorney’s Office:

  • Stephanie Cafin, 35, of Urbana: 2 counts Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Class 1. Released on bond.
  • Ryan Walters, 22, of Monticello: 2 counts Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Class 1. Released on bond.
  • Ronald McDade, 29, of Monticello: 2 counts Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. Class X/Class 1. Remains in custody.
  • Brandon Sellers, 22, of Monticello: 1 count Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Class 1. Remains in custody.
  • Douglas Critchfield, 29, of Bement: 3 counts Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. Class 1. Released on bond.
  • Andrew Plummer, 31, of Bement: 1 count Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Class 3. Remains in custody.

Task Force 6 is a multi-agency enforcement unit specializing in narcotics enforcement. It is composed of officers from Clinton Police Department, DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department, McLean County Sheriff’s Department, Piatt County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State University Police Department, and the Illinois State Police.

No other information has been released about this investigation. Illinois State Police want to remind the public that charges are merely accusations and criminal defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
