March 13 – Decatur’s news/talk radio station WSOY can now be heard on 103.3 FM along with its long time dial position of 1340 AM.
The expanded service was announced this morning during the Byers & Co. radio show by Neuhoff Media CEO, Beth Neuhoff. The addition of this new service will now provide expanded coverage to areas throughout Decatur and Macon County.
“We are excited to add an FM option for those listeners seeking to access our content,” WSOY Program Director Jeff Daly says.
“We are now everywhere our listeners are, on AM, FM, streaming at NowDecatur.com as well as national platforms such as Tune-In Radio,” added Brian Byers, Neuhoff VP/Development and morning show host.
WSOY features daily community-focused talk show programs, local news, weather and sports. WSOY sports partners include the University of Illinois, St. Louis Cardinals, plus prep football and basketball with Decatur’s St. Teresa High School.
The transmission system for the new service is using a 250-watt transmitter co-located on a Barbeck Communications tower on the east side of Decatur. For listeners who have had reception issues in the past during early morning, evening or overnight periods, those have been addressed with the new 103.3 FM service, Neuhoff officials said.
The addition of the new FM service for WSOY brings the number of radio stations licensed locally to Neuhoff Media Decatur to six. In addition to WSOY, Neuhoff operates Y-103, 95Q, Hot 105.5, ESPN 1050 the Fan, and local website NowDecatur.com.
To recognize WSOY’s community impact, Decatur Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe has proclaimed March 13, 2017 as WSOY Day in Decatur.
