DECATUR — MacArthur’s auditorium was flooded with yellow Tuesday as the DPS Board of Education hosted an open work session.
While the focus of the session was to discuss budget reductions, the majority of it involved members of the community voicing their support for Superintendent Lisa Taylor. One of those who spoke out was Susan Conway, a Thomas Jefferson Guidance Counselor.
“I definitely believe that we were heard,” says Conway. “As you saw there’s lots and lots of people who spoke in favor of Superintendent Taylor. You know one great thing about our board is that they listen. I just hope and pray that we got our message across that we want her as Superintendent and we want her contract to be extended for years to come because she’s doing the right thing.”
Though the board hasn’t taken official action, Superintendent Taylor was told she wouldn’t have her contract renewed in 2017. You can find a video of more reactions from the community on NowDecatur.com
