DECATUR — Hundreds of athletes and spectators came out to the 3rd annual DMH CrossFit Enhance D-Town Throwdown on Saturday.
The competition continues on Sunday, and over 260 athletes representing 45 teams are expected to participate in the two-day event. The 45 teams, each representing their CrossFit gym, are made up of six people (three women and three men) for the RX and Scaled Divisions. There was also a Master’s Division made up of four individuals.
Josh Newton is the manager of the DMH CrossFit Enhance facility says they are excited to host such a great competition.
“We are extremely excited to be hosting this great event for athletes from all over Illinois,” says Newton. “The first, second and third place winning teams will take home some fantastic prize packages and a custom trophy that they get to display in their gyms.”
Saturday’s events started at 8 a.m. and continue to 6 p.m. Saturday evening. The competition will continue on Sunday starting at 8 a.m. and will rap up with an awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will be used to benefit a local charity.
