DECATUR – Investing in the future can be seen from a lot of companies at the Farm Progress Show and Farm Credit Services is no different.
This is the 100th year of operation for the lending company and they are celebrating it by giving away a gift. Vice President of Marketplace Engagement Rod Stoll says they are going to give $100,000 away to a youth organization like 4-H or FFA next month. Stoll says the younger generation is very important for Ag’s future.
“We’ve been serving generations of farm families since 1916,” says Stoll. “Most importantly, we want to make sure that the next generation of farmers are covered, so it’s exciting to be able to give away a gift.”
Stoll says they had visitors come to their tent at the Farm Progress Show and vote for one of ten organizations who they thought should receive some of the money. He says each organization will get some money based on the percentage of votes they receive.
Stoll said that through the first two days of the show, they had roughly 1,700 people visit and vote for an organization. He says they have a group of employees that will also cast votes before they tally up the winner.
A winner should be announced mid-October after all of the votes have been counted.
