TUSCOLA – Broc Winn may have passed away a year ago, but residents of Tuscola will remember him for years to come.
Winn’s friends and family decided to set up a memorial fund for Broc after he committed suicide last year. Nine of Winn’s close friends and family set up the memorial. Shane Wasiloski is one of Winn’s close friends and a founder of the memorial. He tells us about his friend and what the memorial fund is all about.
“We lost him almost a year ago to suicide and so we started a fund for Broc called the Broc Winn Memorial Fund,” says Wasiloski. “We are giving back scholarships to kids in Tuscola that play football. Every year we are going to try and give away one or two $1,000 scholarships.”
Wasiloski and some other founders were in attendance at the Decatur Strongman Competition this past weekend. Wasiloski says they were there to support their friend and fellow founder Jordan Donaldson, who competed as a strongman. Donaldson sported the memorial shirt for Winn during the competition and Wosiloski says he wears it to all of his events.
“Our buddy Jordan is really into power lifting and every time he does a competition he wears the shirt,” says Wasiloski. “I think it’s just his way of supporting and remembering our friend Broc.”
The shirts have #BrocSolid on the back as another way to remember Winn. For more information on the memorial fund, you can check out their page at facebook.com/BrocWinnMemorialFund
